Weekend
My weekend began with a cloudless morning run that wound down at the post office, where I was expecting a letter (not just any letter-- my April Modern Letter) but instead received an actual package. Intrigued, I walked quickly home, stopping once to acquire a child-sized wooden chair that the school down the street from us was discarding. Ten minutes later, Irving was sitting on the chair, Olive was in the box and I was holding a beautiful Modern Letter Project art piece, which is now hanging above my desk for inspiration (note to Gorjus- your response is coming and if I can't finish it between now and Friday, it will probably be mailed from Turkey). It was a wonderful beginning to one of the fullest weekends on record in the Lexacor household.
The rest of the morning and early afternoon was dedicated to a trip to Target, or rather the time was dedicated to the cart escalator at Target, which broke down four times over the course of thirty minutes and caused me to gather all five thousand small items for our trip in the bottom lip of my shirt in an attempt to JUST GET DOWNSTAIRS. It didn't work. Immediately after we paid for our travel sundries, we hopped a train to Manhattan to drink mint juleps and watch the Kentucky Derby, then meandered home and, by late evening, found ourselves having an early anniversary dinner at the Good Fork. Then we passed out.
Sunday was our first anniversary, and to celebrate our one year of marriage we partook in the paper tradition and bought a Lotto ticket. Then we celebrated ourselves by going for a long, traditional Corie and Alexis walk which, fittingly, came to a close at the vet's office where we purchased more pounds of Irving's medical cat food than I thought humanly possible. After lugging it home and giving me a few hours of final exam studying, we relaxed together drinking wine and eating bread and olives, spicy things and cheeses...the perfect end to a busy but wholly satisfying weekend- and our last weekend this month in the United States. Woot!
P.S. I also climbed a wall.

God, I hope this person gets me next month. It MIGHT make up for not receiving an April letter.

Keep in mind this was my April letter that arrived on May 5. Letters have been going out later this month. Speaking of which, my May person should know that they might not get their letter until June...

Happy happy on your anniversary! This post reminds me how reticent I've been on taking pics of my letter. I haven't been late on writing the letters, just documenting them.
Poor Lester, I'm sorry you didn't receive a letter! If it's from me then I sent it at the end of April.

Happy anniversary! And I'm so sorry for how long it took me. I had the letter basically plotted out but "transcribing" it took a bit of time (I abandoned the etched glass route).

Oh, that wasn't an accusation :) It was well worth the wait.

Wow, thats impressuve gorjus!
Corie - are you going to do another round of this project at some point? I missed it first time around and would be interested, and know a couple of others who would be also.
