CV, Etc.
The above image is indicative of our household and my brain right now. In the past week, I have crammed my head full of facts about rationalization and order during the Progressive Era, tuberculosis treatment, the Columbia campus takeover of 1968, the Mercury Theater, Frances Perkins, and the politics of place and memory. I wrapped ten holiday gifts, wrote thirty holiday cards to family and friends, and addressed, signed, stamped and mailed about 110 (of our 211) Modern Letter Project holiday postcards. I have eaten ramen noodles for dinner twice this week, cleaned up one small pile of pine-needle induced cat regurgitation and completely forgotten to make Christmas cookies. Last night, I arrived home to find a large leak in our bathroom ceiling. Can you tell that things are a little scattered? I thought so.
On another note, I was working on a project proposal and realized that I needed to add my bio to the list of others potentially participating. I read through everyone's professional description- these were high-level women with much more experience than I- all of which began more or less with the lead in of "So and so joins us with twenty years of experience in..." or "So and so comes to this project after a thirty-year career in..." I sat at my desk and stared at the computer for a while, trying to figure out what to write about myself, then was distracted by a different task. A few hours later, I returned to my desk, peered at the screen and realized that I had absentmindedly written the following:
Corie joins this project as XXXX. She has been alive for almost thirty years.
I can't wait for vacation.

haha, that made me laugh!
I too am looking forward to a few days off - sorting out gifts and cards is still at about no. 20 on my to-do list!

Bios are all bullshit. I write them on occasion for musicians. Don't feel intimidated by the others, rather enjoy the fact that you are achieving so much, so early. Besides, you have nearly thirty years experience doing something that no one else in the world has ever done and could never do: being you! I know, cheesy, but still.
I very much like the bio you wrote, actually. Short, to the point and, most importantly, true. You'd be surprised what people put in theirs. At concerts, we always have fun decoding the bio-speak and working out what really happened.

"pine-needle induced cat regurgitation" - Oh dear! I feel like I jinxed you by asking if your cats didn't eat the Christmas tree!
