Open Letter
Dear MTA,
This weekend you put up a sign on all B61's alerting us to a service change, which made us scratch our heads because the route you provided seemed to violate several traffic laws. On Monday, the bus ran in its normal 2006 reroute down Van Brunt to Union. This morning, the bus driver took a stab at the new path, leaving us stranded in the middle of a busy intersection attempting to make a right turn onto a one-way street with traffic coming at us from the opposite direction. This elicited angry rants from pedestrians and surrounding cars and put the driver, her passengers and the vehicles around us all in danger.
Next time, when you change a bus route please consult a map. Or, if you really meant to send a bus full of people in the wrong direction up a one-way street, you could have the courtesy of providing a traffic cop to assist in the process.
Thank you.
###
Note: As the bus driver cursed the new route this morning, an announcement came over the radio that a dispatcher was on his way to the intersection of Van Brunt and Hamilton to help with the illegal turn. Why the MTA waited until 8:00 a.m. weekday rush hour to send this person out is still beyond me.

Bureaucracy at its finest in the Big Apple!
Glad you lived to tell the tale.
