Wrapped in Blue
Alexis dreamt about the New York Shipyard and scaffolding on Saturday night, which turned out to be ominous foreshadowing. When we arrived at Beard Street the next morning to check it out, we found the entire shipyard grounds wrapped in a canvas of blue scaffolding. The windows of the old building were sealed for asbestos abatement and the posted permits confirmed our sick suspicions: demolition.
I guess this is the first invasion of Ikea blue, almost like a starter color to get us used to the gargantuan blue and yellow box that will forever change the fabric of the street. Yet another city moment that makes my heart hurt.
