Rice-A-Thon
Rice; Mott Street, NYC
So many cameras....I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
The penny container inspection.
Mmm. Soup.
Rice Krispie treats, and more importantly, the free container that came with them.
Dessert at Rice.
Four bloggers and a future one decided to be brave and venture out into the unbearable cold last night. Rachelle, Tien, Dahlia, Skutchie and I were on a dual mission: a) Eat lots of rice; b) Figure out how the heck that penny condiment tray was made.
Dinner at Rice was yummy. I had the miso soup, which had mushrooms that curiously resembled the enokis that Jen stuck up her nose. Once I got past that detail, the soup was quite good. I was delighted to find that Rice served Thai black rice, which is my favorite.
We had a slightly cranky (or at the very least, weird) waitress, probably because we piled in to eat and proceeded to take up half of restaurant. I think that she also sensed that something was up with us and the penny condiment holder, as we removed all of the condiments and proceeded to photograph and analyze it. It probably didn't help that we were also talking about tactics for stealing it. Or that four out five of us pulled out digital cameras, setting the small restaurant ablaze with a sea of flashes.
Dinner was not complete without ordering rice krispie treats, not because they taste good (which they do), but for the cute container than they come in. Because, really, who can ever have enough containers?
Finally, we made our way over to Rice to Riches. Choices, choices, choices. I was devastated to find out that I couldn't just buy a container (I really want the mammoth $15 trough in green, though I don't want $15 worth of rice pudding). I went with pistachio pudding, which was delicious.
I'll post all of my pictures when I have more time.
But lastly, I can't finish this post without mentioning that it took me 1 hour and 35 minutes on the (F) train to get from Lafayette to 7th Avenue. The train c-r-a-w-l-e-d the entire way. This wouldn't have been that bad, however for the 10-15 minutes that we sat waiting in each station, the doors were open. Even at Smith/9th and 4th Avenue. And, of course, I was the lone idiot yesterday that wore a short skirt.
How I felt when I got home last night.
Tien on dinner at Rice and dessert at Rice to Riches.
Dahlia's Rice-A-Thon.
Rachelle's Rice-O-Rama.
