Feline Public Service Announcement | Friday Cat Edition
For the Love of Stumpy and her Brood
Stumpy is a stray cat from Bushwick who has adopted a feline-loving family’s backyard. Seeing that she was pregnant, they built a shelter for her and sure enough, when the babies came, Stumpy moved them into the safety of the structure. When the kittens are old enough for adoption, Jen would very much like to find them safe, loving homes. What is more, it appears that the mama cat has become pregnant again and another load of Stumpy-spawn might very well be on their way to Brooklyn.
You can read more about Stumpy and her kittens here and here.
For some visuals, check out this video of the Stumpy brood and these photos.
Please, if you know of anyone who would like to adopt a kitten, please direct them over to these lovable creatures. They so desperately need a good home and a fair shot at the world. Pass this around, tell your friends, but most of all, help find these kittens some loving owners. Adopted!

My mom fosters feral cats that have babies or soon will have babies. My suggestion is to get mama cat to a shelter ASAP so that a foster who volunteers there can get mama spayed as soon as she delivers her next litter! No point in chancing her getting knocked up AGAIN.. which will happen. And quicker that we'd like. With so many kitties in shelters, the best thing to do is to get the teenies there, too so that they can get spayed before they get knocked up. The feral world is a vicious cycle of teeny after teeny.....
best of luck to Jen!

Just to update, all four of the babies were rescued from the yard today, two of them are with their new family on Long Island, one of them is upstairs with his or her new family, and the fourth is spending the night up there as well - we have someone coming tomorrow who will hopefully adopt that one, and a couple of backups just in case. Mama is fine and we are awaiting further word on placing her.
Thanks so much to all of you for your concern and support, and thanks again to Corie for spreading the word - it means so much to us.
