Getting There
This is the only sign of advertising at the exit of the cruise ship terminal (so far). I wonder if this pulls any new customers. I also wonder if there is some alternate spelling of Red Hook that I've missed along the way.
Related: we ran into a man in the neighborhood this weekend that has purchased a whole bunch of pedicabs, thinking that they would be the perfect vehicle to show cruise ship tourists their way around Brooklyn. I am curious to see how that one works out.

you know, i'm not sure if i've ever eaten there. we get pizza at mark's on van brunt street. it's standard nyc pizza-- not bad, not wonderful, but very consistent and totally hits the spot when you have a pizza craving.

For many years, House of Pizza was my favorite get-it-by-the-slice brooklyn pizza. It was run by a couple of real Union street old timers and they had a magic touch. I would walk over from Park Slope when the urge hit.
A year or two ago, new owners took over and promised to retain the spirit and taste. they even got the previous chefs to teach them a few tricks. Unfortunately, decades of experience have to be earned, not taught.
I think it has slipped. But I still want to try one of their deep fried calzones.

I totally know the guy you spoke to--and he's not joking either. He gave me the whole spiel last summer outside Nino's (Union and Henry). He owns a 'snow removal business', too, and...well, that's all I'm going to say about that.
