Dick The Goldfish Needs Help Swimming Because Of Bladder Disease

SCOTIA, N.Y. -- A sling made of straws and string to help a sick goldfish at an Albany, N.Y.-area diner appears to be working, according to a Local 6 News report.

Diner customers came up with the idea after Dick the goldfish became sick and couldn't swim. The 17-year-old fish suffers from bladder disease. Most days, Dick could only crawl around the bottom of his fish tank behind the counter at the Sky Port diner in Scotia. But the regulars devised a floating sling made out of straw, gauze and string. The contraption has Dick swimming again.

When Dick fell ill back in November, he was given two weeks to live. With his new sling and a diet of hand-fed peas, he's back in the swim of things.
